Immunity Sipping Broth

This is like a golden hug in a mug that delivers an immune-boosting dose of TLC. Think: turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and cayenne with a swirl of coconut cream in a nourishing broth base.

INGREDIENTS

Serves 1

1 cup broth of choice or more to taste (vegetable or bone broth)
1 heaping tablespoon fresh turmeric root, grated (or use approximately 2 teaspoons turmeric paste – see below)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon fresh ginger root, grated (or 1 teaspoon ground)
Pinch of cayenne
Pinch of black pepper (increases bioavailability of curcumin, the healing property in turmeric)
Sea salt to taste depending on saltiness of the broth
1 heaping tablespoon of coconut cream (use culinary or the top part of full fat canned coconut milk)

OPTIONAL TOPPINGS: microgreens or sliced green onions

METHOD

Gently warm the broth in a small saucepan. Add turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Once heated through, run the mixture through a strainer if using fresh turmeric or ginger. Pour into a mug and swirl in the coconut cream. Taste and adjust seasonings accordingly. Top with greens and any additional spices. Sip, savor & enjoy!

Note: To make the turmeric paste, combine 2 parts turmeric powder with 1 part boiling water. Mix and store any extra in the fridge for up to 5 days.
