Life Hack: How to Recharge Your Mind and Body

Every now and then, a word pops into my mind, and I can’t let it go. Lately, it’s been the same one, over and over: RECHARGE!

Recharge my energy stores Recharge my creativity Recharge my frazzled brain Recharge my whole being.

The last few months, I’ve been reminded that being still and slowing down are not the same thing as “recharging.” And while it’s valuable to make space for yourself, it’s also critical to take time to not only turn off your engine, but put some juice back into your battery. That “recharge” can help fuel you for whatever comes next!

So starting right now, I’m recommitting myself to finding – and savoring – what I like to think of as “active breaks.” I’m tuning into my desire to FILL BACK UP and REPLENISH my depleted body and mind. Because as they say, “You can't pour from an empty cup”... and my cup could definitely use a refill.

To help myself not just hit pause, but actually reset, I’m looking forward to a lot of little actions that add up to a whole lot of good! To start, I’ll....

Grilled Peach, Zucchini, Quinoa Salad with a Lemony Basil Vinaigrette

...intentionally choose replenishing foods like ripe, juicy fruits and vegetables, nutrient-dense dishes, and anti-inflammatory, flavor-packed fresh herbs to help refuel my body. (My new Grilled Peach and Zucchini Quinoa Salad with a Lemony Basil Vinaigrette checks off all the boxes!)

...engage in activities that make me forget to check my phone (like a quiet run through the woods or a workout that gets my blood pumping) to help replenish my energy stores.

...linger in "the pause" (like those sweet, sweet final moments in bed before the snooze alarm goes off) to help refresh my soul.

...sleep in a bit longer (before the rush of September hits!) to help restore my reserves of rest.

...notice the beauty all around (like the sleepy heat of deep summer or the rich tones of the August sky) to help remind myself how lucky I am to be here.

...listen to my body (really, TRULY listen - to its needs, its desires, its best intentions) to help me feel energized and alive.

And WHY am I doing all this? Because I deserve to be the best version of myself – and my friends and family deserve me at my best. And you deserve to feel recharged, too! But that only happens when we take time to rest, restore, reset… and feel whole again.
